About
Karin Janssen's drawings focus on how ideal feminine images collide with reality. Her work carries these ideals through into the absurd. She often uses her own body as her model, portraying herself with all her flaws intact, and often exaggerating them. To draw the viewer in, Janssen works on a large scale. In this way both scale and subject matter work together to enhance the grotesque nature of the human being in all its attractive, sublime rawness.

Originally from the Netherlands, she now lives and works in London.
